old hollywood underneath layers of black & white
1930s Spanish Ranch House
Home to a busy studio executive, this house had received an all-gray flip that was serviceable but flat. Luckily, underneath 3,000 square feet of gray vinyl was 2-inch white oak hardwoods that we were able to refurbish and add to when we expanded the footprint of the kitchen and the upstairs, adding a bedroom, bathroom, and luxurious primary suite. Exposed brick, soapstone, and plaster gave the kitchen an old-world feel. And no house built in the ‘30s in Los Angeles should lack a touch of Hollywood regency.
